With time perfume ages and becomes oxidized. You should carefully keep your perfume in a cool and dark place so that it can last a good 3-5 years. Most perfumes are quite stable and will last a few years. But some of them are fragile by their nature. My Lily for instance is quite fragile and will become yellow fairly quickly. If you use your fragrance within one year of purchasing it, you should not have to worry about this.
