Mother’s Day Reflections

Cherishing My Young Adults as They Spread Their Wings By Isabelle Ramsay-Brackstone

This upcoming Mother’s Day feels particularly tender and beautiful. My three children, Marie-Sophie (25), Gabrielle (23), and William (21) are no longer little ones who need me to tie their shoes or pack their lunches. They are young adults, each beautifully finding their own path, and my heart is full of pride mixed with that quiet ache only mothers understand.

Marie-Sophie is back home in Bermuda, teaching history and music. Watching her stand in front of a classroom, sharing her passion with her students, fills me with joy. Gabrielle has spread her wings to Montreal, building her life in a vibrant city she loves. And William will graduate college in mid-May and has chosen a career in law enforcement in Canada. Each of them is stepping into adulthood with courage and purpose.

They Still Need Me, Just Differently Now
The way they need me has changed, and I’ve learned to cherish this new season.
Instead of bedtime stories and school runs, we now share late-night phone calls, long voice notes, and spontaneous recipe swaps. Gabrielle will text me asking for my basil pesto recipe. Marie-Sophie and I recreate family Sunday dinners when she’s free. William still sends me photos of his latest chili con carne, proudly telling me he used “Mum’s technique” for seasoning.

They have their own busy social circles now, new friends, adventures, and inside jokes I’m not always part of. And that’s exactly how it should be. I love hearing about their lives: the hockey games Gabrielle attends in Montreal (she is obviously a big HABS fan), Marie-
Sophie’s music nights with friends, and William’s stories from his training. Their worlds are expanding, and I get to celebrate every new chapter with them.

The Quiet Joy of Letting Go
As a mother, I’ve realized that one of the greatest gifts we can give our children is the
confidence to fly on their own, while always keeping the door (and our hearts) wide open.
They still reach out when they need advice, a listening ear, or just to share a funny moment. Those moments mean everything to me.

This Mother’s Day, I’m reminded that motherhood doesn’t end. It simply evolves into
something deeper and richer.

A Fragrance for Every Chapter of Motherhood
At Lili Bermuda, I create perfumes that capture memories and emotions. Just as our
relationships with our children change over time, a beautiful fragrance can mark different
seasons of life.

Whether you’re buying a gift for your own mother, your daughter who is now a young
woman, or treating yourself, a signature scent becomes a beautiful reminder of love that
travels across oceans and years.

This Mother’s Day, I invite you to celebrate the mothers and mother-figures in your life with something meaningful. Perhaps even create a custom fragrance together in one of our “Signature Fragrance Workshops” at Stewart Hall: a memory you’ll both treasure forever.

To my own children: Marie-Sophie, Gabrielle, and William
Thank you for letting me be your mother through every stage. I love you more than words can say, and I’m so incredibly proud of the adults you are becoming.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the beautiful mothers, soon-to-be mothers, and those with mother- hearts reading this. You are cherished.
